Aquatic Plant Control Research Program
The Aquatic Plant Control Research Program (APCRP) is the Nation's only Federally
authorized research program for technology needed to manage non-indigenous aquatic
plant species. The APCRP is concerned with aquatic plant problems of major economic
significance in navigable waters, tributaries, streams, connecting channels, and
allied waters of the United States. The program is designed to provide environmentally
compatible, cost-effective methods for identifying, assessing, and managing aquatic
plant problems that interfere with the valued uses of our Nation's water bodies.
Results of the program support the Corps Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Program,
Removal of Aquatic Growths (RAG) Project, and the Aquatic Plant Control (APC) Program,
as well as the aquatic plant management programs of other Federal agencies, state
and local agencies, and the public. Information and techniques developed by the
APCRP are transferred using a variety of media technologies: user manuals, instruction
reports, computer-based information systems, simulation capabilities, technical
and training workshops, peer review journal articles, information bulletins, technical
reports, technical notes, professional meeting presentations, and exhibits.
