Software Installation Notes:

We recommend that the user download the ARAMS installation to a temporary directory and then run the installation from their hard drive as opposed to running the installation over the web.

We also recommend that any previous version of ARAMS be uninstalled before installing a new version.  If you have Windows XP, this can be done by clicking your Start menu, selecting Control Panel, selecting "Add or Remove Programs", selecting "ARAMS" from the list of installed applications, and then clicking the "Change/Remove" button and select "Remove" from the dialog that appears.  If you have Windows 2000, then this can be done by clicking your Start menu, selecting "Settings", selecting "Control Panel", selecting "Add/Remove Programs", selecting "ARAMS" from the list of installed applications, and then clicking the "Change/Remove" button and select "Remove" from the dialog that appears.   (Note: Deleting an application directory or its files is not the same as uninstalling an application!  Follow the instructions above to uninstall a previous version of ARAMS)

The ARAMS install checks for the proper versions of the Windows Installer and InstallShield Engine software and then downloads and installs them automatically from the internet if required. Typically, Windows Installer is already installed on the Windows XP Pro and Windows 2000 Pro operating systems. The InstallShield Engine may or may not be present on the user's system, depending on software previously installed on the PC. Should these products need to be installed or upgraded on the user's PC, please follow the on-screen instructions carefully and after any required reboots, the ARAMS install should begin.

SPECIAL NOTE: The Terrestrial Wildlife Exposure Module (TWEM) v3.2 is installed with ARAMS v1.4. TWEM can be accessed as a component module of ARAMS/FRAMES or as the standalone version from either the ARAMS "Models" menu or from the Windows 2000 "Start -> Program Files -> CH2MHill -> TWEM" or Windows XP "Start -> All Programs -> CH2MHill -> TWEM" menu.

If TWEM has been installed previously as a separate application, it will be necessary to uninstall it before installing ARAMS v1.4.  Conversely, if ARAMS v1.4 has been installed, a separate installation of TWEM should not be performed.

ARAMS™ Update Information

ARAMS v1.4 - Released January 2009

Important Update Notes:

1)  Quite a few modifications have been made in ARAMS 1.4 and not all previous GID files may be compatible with the latest version. This can be due to several reasons, some of which are major modifications to models, changes to FRAMES file specifications between FRAMES 1.6 and FRAMES 1.7, the inclusion of new FRAMES file specifications for WCF and SCF output files that now include total and dissolved constituent concentrations as opposed to total constituent concentrations only as was the case in the previous version of ARAMS, etc.   This means that the user may need to re-enter his or her data for some modules in some circumstances.

2)  ARAMS 1.4 includes the Generation II (GENII) v2 and GENII v2 NESHAPs (National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants) suite of models, but these have not been tested by ERDC. If you encounter any problems with these models, then be sure to contact the PNNL point-of-contact indicated in that module's 'General Info' dialog of FRAMES.

3)  Performing sensitivity in ARAMS 1.4 with FRAMES and the S/U module therein, requires that the user download and install the software package 'R for Windows', version 2.3.1. You can find the install here or here.

Click here to download the latest ARAMS release and select any additional models to be included in the ARAMS package from the table below. The models in the table below are stand-alone models that do not presently link to other modules in ARAMS. However, if these models are installed with ARAMS, then they will show up for application under the ARAMS Models menu on the main screen for convenience only.

1 These models are available as individual setup executables that do not require ARAMS for application, but if installed after ARAMS, they will be linked to the ARAMS Models menu for convenience.

The table below contains a supplemental utility that can be used in ARAMS and FRAMES. This utility is already included in the ARAMS 1.4 install. However, some non-ARAMS users may wish to download and install the utility separate from ARAMS and if so, can be downloaded and installed below and assists with the generation of joint frequency data.
