Professional Experience
- Co-Lead for Environmental Lab's Leadership Development Program
- Manages approximately 40 employees (both Federal and Contract) and responsible for approximately $6 million of work (both civil and military, and including direct and reimbursable projects)
Research Interests
- Conducts research and development activities primarily to address ways to enhance stewardship of the Nations natural resources and development of basic knowledge of ecosystem processes in terrestrial and riparian communities in support of resource restoration and management at the system-wide level
- Researches and develops numerous ecological (species, community, and functional) assessment models, and has overseen their application in more than 12 GI-level projects
- Provides technical support/technology transfer of tools to assess, manage, and restore habitats, communities, and landscapes for the Department of Defense (including USACE) and other Federal agencies
Research Projects
- Co-developed Community Models for several USAE Districts: St. Louis, Omaha, Galveston, Little Rock, Tulsa, and Chicago. Communities include: Cypress/Tupelo Swamp, Cottonwood Riparian, Coastal Prairie, Floodplain Forest, Resacas, Tall-grass Prairie, Woo
- Special Assignment: Assisted USAE Los Angeles District, Planning Section C (Phoenix Office) evaluate benefits for 5 Ecosystem Restoration Studies in Phoenix and Tucson, AZ using Hydrogeomorphic (HGM) Approach for Classifying Wetlands.
- Special Assignment: Assisted USAE Galveston District on two studies evaluating impacts and benefits for a proposed flood damage reduction/ecosystem restoration study in the Clear Creek watershed, southeast Texas and an ecosystem restoration study in Brown
