Within the context of EMRIS, which is written for natural resources, regulatory, and planning personnel in the Corps, ecosystem management is an overarching term. It includes ecosystem restoration, analysis and actions on ecosystem processes to achieve given ends, and resource management at scales greater than single resources. One phrase that will appear several times is "working with an ecosystem perspective."
One element that is critical to success in ecosystem management is setting appropriate and well-planned Goals and Objectives. A second critical element is recognition and inclusion of the Human Component.
