This section of EMRIS acknowledges the critical nature of spatial relationships in ecosystem work. The first section addresses Boundaries and Classification, mechanisms humans have developed to help reduce to a manageable level the complexity of the natural world and the infinite number of elements it contains. The second section addresses some aspects of Spatial Analysis, an important tool in achieving ecosystem goals.
