GIS Tools

    Wetland Restoration DSS Tool
The purpose of this tool and user’s guide is to help those involved in wetland restoration planning create their own area specific, GIS-based wetland restoration SDSS which can be used to identify and evaluate potential wetland restoration sites at a landscape or watershed scale.

    Patch Calculator
Patch Calculator is an ArcGIS 9.2 tool that and can be used to calculate several patch and landscape-related metrics, with the results output as a patches and/or a study area (subwatersheds, for instance) shapefile. The results can then be used to support various habitat/ecosystem/watershed modeling and management activities.

    • 9/8/08 - Version 1.2 available. Version 1.2 will run the nearest neighbor and number of connections analyses much faster then the previous versions.

    Nearest Neighbor Calculator
"For an input shapefile, the nearest neighbor tool will calculate the shortest edge-to-edge distance between each patch and its nearest neighbor.

    Functional Linkage Index Tool
This tool is intended for measuring changes in habitat connectivity due to the loss or gain of habitat patches and/or alterations in the surrounding landscape. As such, the tool is of particular use when comparing impacts or benefits to connectivity from different project alternatives.
