Plant Information Overview
This system contains information on over 160 species of aquatic, wetland and terrestrial plants. If you are not sure of what the
problem plant is, a two different plant ID systems are provided to aid the user in the identification of the species.
Both identification systems usesexpert system programming techniques that make it function as
if the user was exchanging information and identification techniques with an
expert. It operates at the level of the expert using rules of thumb and criteria
used by plant identification experts. Most of the characters can be viewed with
only minimal equipment and/or training.
Once a plant species is identified the user can access photographs of the
identified species as well as read textual information on description,
distribution, growth habits, problems, and pertinent references. In addition, a
menu is listed below the plant name that allows users direct access to
information on available chemical, biological, and mechanical management options
for the selected species
