| The Limnology and Water Quality Team (LWQ) of the ERDC Environmental Laboratory conducts limnological research and development that focuses on biological, physical, and chemical processes that influence the use and usability of water for diverse purposes (i.e., navigation, flood control, power generation, agriculture, water supply, recreation, fish and wildlife). This research applies to management of water resources for sustainability and is coupled to environmental models that range from simple to complex. Work is applicable to site remediation and clean-up, habitat restoration and enhancement, and military readiness. For effective resource management, understanding of the biological and physico-chemical processes related to water quality must span scales that range from microscopic, to whole landscapes and watersheds.
