Project Description: On December 1, 2004, the COLUMBIA began work in the Mile -1.9 to Mile -4.2 bar channel reach. The required depth of dredging was -43 feet Mean Low Gulf (MLG) but dredging width was limited to a channel-centered width of 400 feet instead of the authorized 800-foot width. When the COLUMBIA began working on Mile -4.5 to Mile -7.0 bar channel reach on December 14, 2004, the dredging width was expanded to full channel dimensions. All work was performed in either the agitation mode, or in the dredge and haul mode with disposal into the ocean dredged material disposal site (ODMDS).

Relocation Trawling
Relocation Trawling? Yes
Relocation trawling was initiated for this work following the incidental take of two loggerhead sea turtles on the Mississippi River-Gulf Outlet (MR-GO) on December 6, 2004. It was decided to suspend relocation trawling efforts on December 30, 2004 due to low water temperatures recorded at the Calcasieu River and MR-GO bar channels.
