Description of mitigation measures/dates used: Deflectors installed after first turtle take on 10/22/96, windows (11/30-3/31)
|
|
Other Remarks: A series of events were observed during the project that could have impacted turtles in the area: 1) reported red tide in the interior marshes of Breton Sound; 2) surface oil slick on 10/27; 3) transit of a damaged barge possibly leaking vinyl acetate inbound from Gulf through channel on 11/10; 4)commercial activities in vicinity of dredge. Large quantities of floating dead fish observed from the dredge coincided with the red tide and damaged barge.
