Technology Innovation for the Corps, the Army, and the Nation

The Environmental Laboratory is the problem solver for the Corps and the Nation in environmental science and engineering research and development in support of environmental systems. The staff supports the environmental missions of the U.S. Army, the Department of Defense, and the Nation through research, development, special studies, and technology transfer. Environmental Laboratory research includes a network of expertise and facilities from other Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) and Corps Laboratories, other government agencies, academia, and private sector.

Problem solvers: EL provides customers with interdisciplinary technical expertise and institutional knowledge.

• Because we are part of the USACE and Army teams, we have detailed understanding of district, division, and installation responsibilities and mandates.

Technology advisors: EL knows the state of the science and helps customers make the right technology choices.

• EL scientists and engineers have been on the leading edge of wide-ranging research and development activities addressing a multitude of environmental issues - wetlands, endangered species, contaminants, and dredging -- since the start of the 1970's environmental movement.

Technology developers: EL develops innovative or modifies existing technology to meet customer needs.

• EL is part of the ERDC, a unique government laboratory system that has been a technology developer and innovator for the past 75 years, providing critical support to our warfighter, our Nations' infrastructure, environmental sustainability, water resource management, and disaster operations.

Business development partners: EL gives customers a competitive advantage via technology and access to ERDC personnel and its unique partnering authorities.

• Our unique partnering capabilities provide rapid access to critical science and technology expertise where ever it resides - other federal labs, nongovernmental organizations, academia, and the private sector.
