A large group of personnel was responsible for developing the system and a complete listing of all those involved can be obtained through the credit section. The level of personnel involvement ranged from actual system development to providing information and graphic images.

As of March 2008, the Zebra Mussel Information System (ZMIS)is no longer available as a stand alone system. A new system entitled the "Aquatic Nuisance Species Information System" (ANSIS) has been developed that not only provides the information contained in the ZMIS, but also provides information on many other aquatic nuisance species.
