Developed originally for use by Ontario Hydro, the Automatic Plankton Sampler collects, filters, and stores up to seven samples at specific, predetermined time intervals. Designed to operate unattended, it is an asset for those sites where labor-intensive sampling techniques are not cost-effective or where the sample site is in a more remote location. The Automatic Plankton Sampler requires a power source and must be manually emptied once the collection chambers have obtained their samples. For further information on Automatic Plankton Samplers, see Claudi and Mackie (1994).
