The best type of device for the monitoring of settled juveniles and adults may very well be navigational buoys. Settlement may be monitored both horizontally and vertically. Additional information such as qualitative and quantitative data as well as settlement depth, is easily obtainable. Upon retrieval of the buoys for the season, data such as density, size, and spread can also be recorded in long-term studies. Samplers can also be attached to the buoys.
