The identification portion of the system allows for easy and rapid identification of a variety of plants, animals, and management options. It is highly interactive and closely simulates the exchange that takes place between experts and non-technical personnel. This allows for quick and easy identification and teaches proper questioning techniques as well.
Using the system requires a working knowledge of Windows 95/Windows 98 functions and commands. Specific instructions are included below.
General Overview:
After entering this identification program from the overall information manager a start-up screen is displayed. To begin the program click on the "Start" button.
This will display the first question for the identification. The question to be answered is displayed in the top title bar while appropriate answers along with corresponding photographs or images are displayed below the tile bar. To select an answer simply click on the photograph or answer. A red rectangle will be displayed outlining the selected answer.
To move to the next best question either click on the 
icon or double click on the photograph of the selected answer.
When all appropriate questions have been answered a message box will be shown that indicates answering additional questions will not provide any more information for an identification.
When available, the system may prompt the user with another screen that will allow further verification of the species selected.
To view a list of the possible identifications click on the 
icon and a list will be displayed at the lower right hand side of the screen of all possible items to be identified. To view information and photographs of the selected item click once on the name to highlight it and then click on the "Picture" button.
Other functions and information can be accessed. To access a given function click on the appropriate icon located either as separate buttons or as an icon bar displayed at the bottom of the screen. Below is detailed information for each icon/function.
