ZMIS is an easy to use information retrieval system that allows rapid access to a variety of information on zebra mussels. Information contained in the system includes identification strategies, life history, impact, detection and monitoring, management options, etc.
The first screen you will see upon entering the system contains four buttons or icons located on the lower portion of the screen. The first button
allows access to the information retrieval portion of the system, the information manager. The second button
displays an animated screen of the system developers, funding agencies and important contact personnel. The third button
displays a message box with information on who to contact concerning system operation as well as information on the currently running version. The final button
exits ZMIS and returns control back to Windows.
To begin accessing information on zebra mussels press the
button. The next screen to be displayed is the information manager. It is through the information manager where information on zebra mussels is obtained.
On the left and right hand sides of the screen are icons or buttons displayed that represent major topics covered by ZMIS. To access information on a specific topic simply click on the appropriate button.
Listed below is a representation of the icons. For more information on the function of each button click on the appropriate button picture.
In the middle of the screen is a Picture Window that displays a computer image appropriate to the last button pressed.
On the lower center of the information manager is a small Text Box. As you pass your cursor over any button, information on the function of that button is displayed in the text box.
