ZMIS is an interactive system designed to allow easy access to a wide variety of information on zebra mussels. Information in the system includes identification of both adults and immatures, life history, impact, monitoring and detection, management strategies, contaminant issues as well as an extensive bibliography. The system is the product of over 3 years of programming and information gathering and was funded primarily by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Zebra Mussel Research Program as an aid to technology transfer activities.
A large group of personnel was responsible for developing the system and a complete listing of all those involved can be obtained through the credit section. The level of personnel involvement ranged from actual system development to providing information and graphic images. In addition, we are indebted to the hard work and effort of the following individuals for leading the effort to revise the information content of ZMIS:
Danielle M. Crosier and Daniel P. Molloy
Division of Research & Collections
New York State Museum
Field Research Laboratory
Cambridge, New York
While the authors have attempted to make this system as complete as possible, any comments on system function and information content would certainly be appreciated. Please address your comments to:

The authors hope that users will find ZMIS an important and effective information source on the continuing problem of zebra mussel infestation in the waters of the United States.
