
Precautions
Chlorine dioxide has the following hazards and requires the following precautions:
- Corrosive, severe respiratory and eye irritant.
- May explosively decompose on shock, friction, concussion, or rapid heating.
- Strong oxidant--reacts violently with combustible and reducing materials, and with mercury, ammonia, sulphur, and many organic compounds.
- Safety glasses, face shield, gloves. Use effective ventilation.
- In dilute solution, is explosive at concentrations over 10 percent.
